Basic functionality good, but has major shortcoming
This app allows the saving and random sorting of names of people, and also allows them to be assigned to a user-specified number of teams of any size. And, as youd expect, the names of the people are saved between launches so you dont need to reenter them each time. But the major shortcoming the app has is that, incredibly, it doesnt save the names of the teams between launches (even though you "save" them in exactly the same fashion as you save the names of the people, by entering text and pressing a "save" button)!
Like many potential customers, I want to randomly assign people to tasks, equipment, rooms, etc, (all of which can be represented in the app as "teams"), on a regular and repeating basis. The people names and "team names" mostly stay the same from day to day. But having to reenter all the team names each time I launch the app makes the app basically worthless to me - it drives me back to using pencil, paper, and a hat, which gets the job done faster!
Thomas Peters, please fix this bug so your app has real value. And if he doesnt, please, some other developer step in and create a competing app that does the job. There is easy money waiting to be made here! The only other apps Ive been able to find which are similar assume you only want to create two teams. Whoever steps in to provide this simple piece of functionality ought to be able to make a very good return on his investment.
Also, Thomas Peters, if you do fix this app, please do add tags to it to make it show up when potential customers search for terms such as "pick teams" or "random teams" or "random names". I forget exactly how I found your app, but I know it was harder for me to find than competing, similar apps. Yours is the best if youll just fix this one glaring problem!
Addendum to my original comment:
Five months has transpired since I authored my original comment, begging the developer to fix the gaping bug in this app. There has been no reply, no update, no nothing. Meanwhile, a new app, "Team Shake", has appeared in the app store, with the functionality I was requesting. (I have no affiliation with "Team Shake", other than being a satisfied customer). I have thus lowered my ranking of "Names in a Hat" from 3 stars to 1, and, apparently like its developer, am henceforth abandoning it.
